Why did none of you tell me that Battlestar Galactica was so good? Yes, people have been telling me to watch it, but it’s so damn fine that you should have been strapping me to a chair and propping my eyes open with metal forceps, Clockwork Orange-style. I’ve only watched the first half dozen episodes from season 1, but it’s so much better than the mini-series I almost can’t believe it. Did they fire the original scriptwriter and hire a roomfull of geniuses? The script is awesome, the acting is first rate and the special effects are just peachy. Even better, there’s a sense of gritty realism about the whole thing that been missing from mainstream sf (with the possible exception of Firefly) for far too long.
Right. I’m off to EBay to find series 2 on the cheap.
